ABSTRACT

This project investigates and describes the increased number of established data processing centers in Denmark. This project accounts briefly for the company, Apple. The results are that the company has a clear mission and furthermore mission they are targeting. Also, the company is being found among more than one product categories where their market shares are high. Furthermore, the personal voice assistant, Siri, has an increasing impact on the company there among other things gives Apple the opportunity of utilizing the potential of keeping the status as the world’s greatest company. Through an analysis, this project looks at the reasons why Apple Inc. chose Denmark when choosing the placement of the data processing centers. It is shown that the internal- and external causes are closely linked to each other. Under here innovation, level of education, and environmentally correct initiatives. Furthermore, this paper examines, through a discussion, the consequences for Apple, the local community, and the Danish economy by the establishments of the established data processing centers by Apple. The results show that there are both advantages and disadvantages for Apple, the local community, and the Danish economy. Under here the attraction of other operators, consumption of electricity, and increasing customer loyalty. Moreover, this project investigates, through an assessment, the meaning of the establishments of data processing centers in Denmark in proportion to the 2030-plan. The results show that the establishments of data processing centers in Denmark influence the 2030-plan on several fronts. Among these the goal of the government wants at least 50 percent of Denmark’s consumption of energy to be covered with renewable energy and furthermore the goal of employing between 55.000 to 60.000 before 2030. The study concludes that the increased number of established data processing centers in Denmark in general influence financial advantageous but can weaken the green use of energy.

1. Indledning og problemformulering

Danmark er blevet en attraktiv destination for verdens største IT-giganter, når virksomhederne skal udvide deres datacentre. Selvom ingen datacentre i dag står færdige, er der i skrivende stund seks under etablering. Herunder er en af virksomhederne, der er ved at etablere to datacentre teknologivirksomheden, Apple Inc. Disse datacentre skal opbevare indhold fra lagringstjenesten, iCloud, musiktjenesten, iTunes samt den stemmestyrede assistent, Siri. Men hvorfor er det lige præcis Danmark, valget lander på gang på gang? Hvilke konsekvenser medfører Apples etableringer for virksomheden selv samt Danmark?
